What happened last week?

The garden in Friesland is covered in mushrooms. An extra large family of this species, the Sulphur Tuft, is growing there.

We even have a Large Orange Cup!

It was perfect weather to paint indoors. I finished this portrait:

In the evening, Arjen performed in Steenwijk. This plush dog had to come along because he plays an important role in the show. At this point, I didn't yet know we would forget to bring him.

Here you see me pondering how we could have forgotten the plush dog.

During the performance, I usually stay in the dressing room. Here I'm reading an enormously interesting book: Secret Knowledge by David Hockney.

In this book, David Hockney investigates what techniques and tools the Old Masters used in creating their paintings. For example, he discovers that greats like Rembrandt and Vermeer traced images using tools such as the camera obscura.

I also made this drawing during the performance in my A4 sketchbook.

And this page contains sketches inspired by the work of others on Pinterest. It can be very educational to imitate the work of others and then add your own twist.

The next day we were out early again to do some exercise.

And day two at the Steenwijk theater, this time with the plush dog.
(not pictured here, the one on the right is Arjen)

Of course, we never forget to bring the real dog.

The next day I put these four prints up for sale.

The weather is still maximally autumnal. This also sounds like I'm trying to act youthful, but I really meant maximally.

Since living in Friesland, I've grown very fond of trees. So I find this beautiful, a piece of forest with bare trees. There are so many lines.

Just look...

We have arrived at the Delfzijl theater.
(My hair isn't cut, it's tucked into my collar.)

Atmospheric theater hallway.

Drawing in the dressing room on my iPad while listening to Arjen's show.

The weather is indecisive.

I prefer to stay indoors in my favorite room.

Still went out to visit the local winter market.

Score!

My brother-in-law in an old-fashioned bedroom is also a kind of art.

This work is called 'Two Snowmen, a Ball and Blue Wonder (empty)'

Here we are on our way to the next adventure. See you soon!
