Yesterday I made some stains with watercolors on paper. It's calming to watch how colors blend into each other. I try to pick colors that don't appeal to me, like orange and purple and moss green and black and yellow. Once dry, the challenge is to bring everything together with colored pencils. How the puddles of water that formed on the paper eventually dry determines how the landscape unfolds.
It's a magical process: you don't know beforehand what you're creating. Maybe I can illustrate it step by step sometime.
