Yesterday I made some watercolor stains on paper. It's soothing to watch how colors blend into each other. I try to pick colors that don't appeal to me, like orange and purple and moss green and black and yellow. Once dry, the challenge is to bring everything together with colored pencil. How the water puddles formed on the paper eventually dry determines how the landscape unfolds.

It's a magical process: you don't know beforehand what you're creating. Perhaps I can document it step by step sometime.
