Alles wat ik maakte (deel 4)

Everything I Made (Part 4)

By Martine de Jong

One more week of preparations and then our new show LUBACH begins, but first, here's what I did last week. Arjen and I went to the exhibition The birth of the city. In search of medieval Amsterdam to visit the first Amsterdammer ever, see photo:

Arjen and Ambrosius (I don't know if that's his name, but he looks like it)

After that, I went with my child to the latest Bridget Jones movie.

I am a big fan of Bridget Jones, but it never got as good as the first movie, so I was somewhat worried about this fourth film. This turned out to be unnecessary, because it is absolutely delightful and sweet.

During the movie, I fell seriously in love with the wallpaper in Bridget's house. Just look how beautiful it is!

The wallpaper is called Foret and is made by Nina Campbell and it's quite pricey so I'm going to think about whether I have a small wall left where I can put it up.

Deer and trees on your wall, who wouldn't want that!

The only drawing I made this week was a bit sad, that's how it goes sometimes. I made it with oil pastels, colored pencil, and marker.

Muis and I also walked across the heath to work again one morning. I say 'our work' because I suspect Muis genuinely considers it her workplace too. Every morning, she sits in the armchair directly opposite the door, and as soon as someone who doesn't belong to the show enters, she starts barking. This activity is actually not convenient for anyone, but I think it makes Muis feel good.

Making collages is my new hobby; I made this one with bird illustrations from my archive:

This week, the exciting news also broke that Arjen's theater song Ledikant has been nominated for the Annie M.G. Schmidt Prize! Muis isn't impressed, which nicely keeps Arjen grounded.

For the theater version, I previously created the background animations for the set together with Oscar Behagel:

And now: the reading list!

I've read these books since last time. It was a good score, as there were only two pulp books, or three, if you find Eckhart Tolle a bit of a poser. Which I don't, I think, but the book was somewhat vague and impractical here and there. I liked My year of rest and relaxation, De perfecties turned out to be a confronting and somewhat depressing recommendation, Book lovers is romantic pulp, Bride is strange (and a bit nasty) werewolf-vampire-sex pulp, Mensen zonder uitstraling is beautiful and sad, Love in a cold climate is very funny and I also find some things in De krater, but just read that one.

And now, quickly on to next week, hopefully I'll make many more things. Goodbye!
