Everything I Made (Part 11)

Applesauce and a lot of Arjen

The last week of preparations for LUBACH is over, from tomorrow we're back on air! I concluded this last week of preparations by accompanying Arjen to a whole series of performances.

For instance, on Thursday he was at The Media Ahead where he was interviewed about his career during the Media Campus Live. That's why you see such an antique image on the big screen.

The next day we left early for Groningen, because Arjen was to deliver the freedom lecture in the auditorium of the academy building. This address is held every year on August 28th to commemorate Groningen's Relief (Bommen Berend). Look at what a magnificent hall!

He can't quite believe it himself, it seems.

After the lecture, we had lunch with the mayor, but not for too long, because we had to move on to the Noorderzon festival, where Arjen was interviewed by De Linkse Mannen Lossen Het Op for their podcast from Spiegeltent Pollux.

Afterwards, I took a fun group photo:

And it still wasn't over, because he also did a stand-up in a container from Club Wicked that only fit twenty people, so I couldn't get in. Here you see me trying to catch a glimpse.

The next day I painted. This time with Liquitex acrylic inks.

Schilderen met acrylic inks van Liquitex

These inks have a very intense color and dry very quickly, so they require a slightly different approach. (Mainly a faster approach, and you have to accept that everything gets a bit darker.)

Is there anything more fun than painting the sky? No, or maybe trees, but you can usually combine those things.

When I look back at my own work, I always think of what I was listening to while painting. In this case, it's the podcast by the Provinfluencers, also a listening recommendation!

On Sunday I made applesauce. These six jars were a lot of work and made an invisible dent in my apple supply. Luckily, I have a nice video of it.

What did you all make last week?
