Alles wat ik maakte (deel 1)

All that I made (part 1)

By Martine de Jong

Last weekend, I suddenly picked up my iPad again. One of the nice things about digital drawing is that you can just paint on the couch. The 'paint' dries instantly, and you can watch or listen to something on TV at the same time. If you draw while listening to something (or have to listen during a Zoom meeting), it also helps to process information better. Research shows that this is because you use multiple parts of your brain simultaneously: the semantic, motor, and visual parts. That's why I keep thinking of Het Verhaal van Nederland - Amsterdam (The Story of the Netherlands - Amsterdam) when I look at this drawing – I made it while watching that show.

A photo of Arjen and Muis.
I'll use part of this photo in a landscape later this week.

I've been walking a lot all year. Every day I try to take 10,000 steps. I know that number is a bit arbitrary, but I find it a nice goal. Sometimes in the evening, I'll walk back and forth in the living room until I hit 10,000. Muis looks very surprised then.

I took the photo above during a walk with Arjen and Muis. At that moment, we thought the path ahead was blocked by construction, so we turned back. Later, it turned out it wasn't, so we walked back and forth a few times. I didn't mind – steps are steps.

Even less beautiful surroundings can suddenly offer a beautiful view; here I saw red three times: from the crane, the jacket, and the dog leash. And those vertical lines! The depth!

Another landscape on the iPad (ProCreate) with Muis.

Muis is a pleasant model: she's small, she's recognizable, and she's always fun to look at. Or so I think.

A photo of the Zuidas during an evening walk in Beatrixpark.

In the evening, I went for another walk, this time with Mirjam and her dog Otis. I once saw a Dutch film that had a scene shot from exactly this position. It was supposed to represent New York, but I just saw the Beatrixpark. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the name of the film, so this information is useless to you, but if you suddenly see a Dutch scene in New York, remember this photo. (And let me know what film that was!)

Two pilots for LUBACH © David Cenzer

We've worked so hard on the new program LUBACH these past few weeks! In this photo, you can see me leaving the control room with my laptop. Looks professional, doesn't it?

A quick fist bump for Arjen before he goes on for the recording of the last pilot. More soon!

A little drawing in my diary.

I'm always early at the office, a time which in this case I spent totally unproductively making this little drawing in my diary. Upside: I now have a nice little drawing to show.

Which I later colored in…

After recording the last pilot, I had some free time again, which is now! So I had time to color in the aforementioned drawing.

And to draw trees in this sketchbook. I could really do this all day, if only I could.

Pages in a sketchbook (A4)

I processed the entire past week in this little painting. What did you all create this week? Until next time!
